(Spirit Lake)– No injuries were reported in a house fire Tuesday night in Spirit Lake.
Fire Chief David Kollasch says Spirit Lake firefighters were called to 2301 Erie Avenue around 10:15 p.m.
Kollasch says it appears the fire started in the living room. He says the blaze was contained to that area of the house, with considerable heat and smoke damage throughout.
Kollasch says the homeowner was out of town.
The cause is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal.
The fire was discovered by a passerby who called authorities on a cell phone.
Kollasch says it’s a good thing the fire was discovered when it was, or the damage would have been much worse.
Firefighters were on the scene nearly two hours.
