No Injuries Reported In House Fire Near Wallingford

November 22, 2014

(Wallingford)– No injuries were reported in a house fire Wednesday evening southwest of Wallingford.

Wallingford Fire Chief Jarrod Fischer says firefighters were called to the Rich Jordet residence at 3971 240th Street shortly after 10:00 p.m. for a chimney fire.

Upon arriving Fischer says smoke could be seen in the residence and a fire was discovered burning in the ceiling and walls adjacent to a fireplace.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and ventilated the house.

Fischer says an estimate of damage isn’t available at this time.

Firefighters were on the scene nearly two hours.

Fischer says the homeowner used a fire extinguisher prior to firefighters arriving. He says that helped minimize damage.

The Wallingford Fire Department was assisted by the Graettinger and Estherville Fire Departments, Estherville Ambulance Service, Emmet County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol.
