New Ward Boundaries In Spencer Show Only Minor Shifts

December 03, 2021 Steve Schwaller

(Spencer)– Cities with ward boundaries, as was the case with state legislative and congressional districts, will also be seeing some changes as a result of population shifts identified in the 2020 census. In Spencer, Mayor Kevin Robinson says the changes are relatively minor…

“We have to move our lines a little bit, we’ve had some growth in different areas of town that have impacted the total population. We try to keep it between 10 percent plus or minus in all the different wards. So the good news is even though the lines have been moved, where the elected officials live has not been impacted by a move of a line. So we don’t have to have a special election, we don’t have to change anything related to that, and so that will just continue on.”

Robinson says copies of the new maps can be seen at city hall.
