(Spirit Lake)– A project to rennovate a former restaurant building into the Dickinson County Nature Center has started.
Dickinson County Naturalist Barbara Tagomi says crews with Eckert Construction of Spencer, the low bidder on the project, started work last week. It includes a total rennovation of both the exterior and interior of the former Back Porch building, located at Kenue Park.
Tagomi says they had to scale a few things back to allow the project to come in on budget, but says it will still be a very nice facility when it’s done.
Tagomi says they should be able to move into the building in late July.
The project was made possible in part through a grant from the Messengers of the Healing Winds Foundation and funding from the county.
