Municipal Election Results From Outlying Areas

(Undated)– Lyle Hevern won his re-election bid for Mayor of Estherville in Tuesday’s municipal elections, defeating challenger John Hanson. Harold Sawyer was re-elected to an at-large seat on the city council, defeating Ron Andrews.

Also in Emmet county, Roger Rezac was elected Mayor in Dolliver in a write-in effort, as no one had filed.

In Clay county, Reynold Petersen was re-elected Mayor in Spencer, defeating challengers Craig Bussell and Steve Waller. Incumbent Ed Krebs was re-elected to his second ward city council seat, defeating challengers Theodore Cate and Rhonda Dean.

In Gillett Grove, Kay Kibbie, Jeff Koenig, Trish Scott, Gerri Jessen and Donald Knephoff won a seven-way battle for five seats on the city council.

In Palo Alto county, Justin Henningsen, Patrick Johnson and Justin Verhelst won a four-way race for three seats on the Ruthven city council.

Chad Buettner, Lonnie Kathman and Dan Snyder won a five-way race for three open seats on the Ayrshire city council.

In Emmetsburg, John Schad won a three-way race for Mayor.

Chris McGrauth and Daniel Skatebo won a three-way race for two open seats on the Graettinger city council.

Voters in Graettinger also approved a measure to increase the library’s board of trustees to five.

And in Mallard, Lyle Larson and Glenn Simonsen won a seven-way race for two seats on the city council.

In Osceola county, Janice Henningsen defeated Bill Zimmerman in a race for an at-large seat on the Sibley city council; Tim Nobles was elected to the ward two seat, defeating Kurt Taverna.

Sibley voters also approved an annual property tax levy of 27 cents per thousand dollars valuation to support the Sibley Public Library’s operating budget.

In O’Brien county, Maynard DeBoer was elected Mayor in Archer, defeating Larry Van Donslear. Larry Hardin won a three-way race to fill a vacancy on the city council.

In Hartley, incumbent Mayor Rodney Ahrenstorff lost in his bid for re-election, as challenger Clayton Pyle was the winner. Kevin Snider and Gina Wiekamp won a four-way race for two open seats on the Hartley city council.

In Sanborn, Duane VanVeldhuizen, Tim Devitt and Aaron Alons won a four-way race for three open seats on the city council.

And in Sheldon, incumbent Mark Postma was re-elected to his city council seat, defeating challenger Chip Miller.
