(Wahpeton)– A report of an overturned sailboat this (Sunday) morning on West Lake Okoboji prompted a response from multiple agencies.
Authorities were called to the scene between Gull Point and Pillsbury Point a little after 10:30 a.m. An initial report indicated five people were in the water, believed to have been trapped under it. Fortunately, they were pulled from the water by other boaters by the time authorities arrived on the scene. No injuries were reported.
Authorities stood by on the scene as the sail boat was up righted and brought to shore, just as storms were moving into the area.
Iowa DNR Lakes Patrol, Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, Arnolds Park-Okoboji Fire and Rescue, the Lakes Area Fire Boat, and Milford Fire Department responded to the scene.
