(Arnolds Park)– Milford firefighters spent several hours early this (Tuesday) morning battling a fire at the Dickinson County Landfill east of Arnolds Park.
Fire Chief Brian Craig tells KUOO news firefighters were called to the scene around 2:45 a.m.
Craig says a large pile of garbage was on fire. He says it took several hours to put it out as the blaze kept re-igniting from below.
No injuries were reported.
It wasn’t immediately known what caused the garbage to start on fire.
Craig says the fire covered about an acre.
Firefighters were on the scene until about 5:45 a.m.
Milford fire and rescue crews have kept on the run lately. Craig says the department has responded to 21 fire and medical calls within the last 13 days.
