Milford Council Nixes Proposed Sewer Requirement For Storage Buildings

November 22, 2014

(Milford)– A proposal to require storage-type facilities to install water and sewer service along with restrooms was dead on arrival at Monday’s Milford city council meeting.

City Administrator Brian Reed told the council city staff was looking at ways to bring the increasing number of storage units on “P” Avenue under control. He says such a requirement would be a way of doing that.

It was the concensus of the council, though, that such a requirement wouldn’t be practical.

Instead, Reed said they could look at rezoning the area along “P” Avenue between 21st and 28th Streets to a light-industrial designation.

In other business, the council deferred action on a proposed “back-to-work” policy for ill or injured city workers. The City Attorney hadn’t had a chance to review it yet.

In other business, the Milford city council approved a controlled burn of an old elevator that will be torn down. The remains will be burned in what used to be a gravel pit just southwest of town. The roof, which has asbestos in it, will be taken off first and disposed of properly.
