Malfunctioning Propane Heater Identified As Probable Cause Of Fatal Fire

November 22, 2014

(Greenville)– A malfunctioning propane heater has been identified as the probable cause of a house fire in Greenville Thursday that claimed the life of 60-year-old Tim Mills.

That word from Deputy State Fire Marshal David Schipper, who says the blaze started along the west wall of the double attached wood frame garage.

Schipper says the heater ignited some nearby combustibles.

Autopsy results show Mills died of smoke inhalation. His body was found by investigators on the kitchen floor.

The house, garage, a neighboring double garage and a shed are all a total loss. Damages are estimated at more than 200-thousand dollars.
