(Arnolds Park)– The main entrance to the Arnolds Park Amusement Park off Highway 71 is getting a major facelift.
Historic Arnolds Park, Incorporated struck a lease agreement with Pirate’s Cove which will operate the park’s miniature golf course. Construction crews have already removed the old golf course in preparation for a new 18-hole course with several pirate-themed props including a 12-foot animated shark near the main entrance and a cannon tower that will fire cannon balls into the newly refurbished pond.
The board of directors of Historic Arnolds Park, Incorporated were updated on the project at their meeting Wednesday.
It was also reported new state-of-the-art go-carts have been purchased for the neighboring cart track. The carts have a “NASCAR” appearance with 13 horsepower engines…compared to the old ones that were nine horse. Any business or ogranization interested in sponsoring a go-cart should contact Park Manager Scott Pyle.
Installation of a roll-o-plane the park purchased last winter will be underway shortly. It’s similar to the loop-o-plane ride that was in the park in the 1960’s.
Some people from abroad will be working at the park this summer. It was reported 13 people from Bulgaria and Macedonia will be working in various capacities at the park this summer.
The park opens its season May 18th with a community-wide free night from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. The official opening day for the general public is the next day, Saturday, May 19th.
