(Des Moines)– Some watershed improvement projects in our area have been awarded state funding.
The East Lake Okoboji watershed project will receive 386-thousand dollars; the Silver Lake watershed in Dickinson and Osceola counties will receive 474,500-dollars; and the Storm Lake watershed was awarded 200-thousand dollars.
All the grants are for three years.
A total of nine applications were awarded 3.5 million dollars in grants through the Watershed Improvement Review Board through the Iowa Department of Agriculture.
The grants are to be matched locally.
The approved projects have already completed watershed assessments that identified critical water resource areas and will focus on implementing specific water quality improvements.
