(Des Moines)– A special honor for a local lawmaker.
State Senator Jack Kibbie of Emmetsburg was honored with the “Uncommon Public Service Award” in a surprise ceremony Monday at the statehouse in Des Moines.
Created by the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library Association, the award recognizes members of the Iowa Senate and House and exemplify President Hoover’s humanitarian efforts and have gone above and beyond the call to demonstrate uncommon public service and commitment to the people of Iowa.
Kibbie was presented with a trophy featuring Hoover’s birthplace at West Branch and a Belgian relief medal…symbols of the common qualities of President Hoover’s Iowa beginnings and the uncommon nature of his achievements.
Kibbie also received one thousand dollars that will go to the charity of his choice; and his picture will be on permanent display in the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library Museum in West Branch.
