(Undated)– Some local law enforcement agencies will be able to purchase some new equipment thanks to grants through the Department of Homeland Security’s Commercial Equipment Direct Assist Program.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office was awarded funds for a surveillance system; the Estherville Police Department received funding for thermal vision equipment; the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office was awarded funds for a piece of equipment known as a “stedi-eye”; funding for a “video detective” was awarded to the Sheldon Police Department; and the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office received funds for thermal vision equipment.
905-thousand dollars was distributed to 57 communities throughout the state.
