(Spirit Lake)– The deadline to apply for a program that assists low income residents in paying their heating bills is quickly approaching.
Laurie Ruuf of Upper Des Moines Opportunity tells KUOO news applications for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program are being accepted until April 15th.
Eligibility guidelines and more information about the program is available by contacting the Spirit Lake UDMO office at 336-1112 or by stopping by the office on the east side of the Great Lakes Mall.
Ruuf says demand for the program has been increasing in recent days as the deadline approaches and residents receive their February heating bills.
