(Spirit Lake)—The Lakes Community Land Trust and it’s “Old Towne” neighborhood redevelopment project in Spirit Lake are getting a big financial shot-in-the-arm.
The Iowa Finance Authority announced today (Wed.) it’s awarded a 73,126-dollar grant for the project. It will consist of the acquisition of a quarter-block parcel of land and the development of eight townhouses in the area of Ithaca Avenue near the courthouse.
The Homeward Housing Trust Fund, which serves 13 counties including Buena Vista, Kossuth, Palo Alto and Pocahontas counties, was awarded a 146,251-dollar grant to help extremely low-income homeowners make emergency home repairs.
It will also allow a homeownership assistance program to continue for low-income residents.
