Lakes Area Man Appointed To Natural Resources Commission

November 22, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– An Arnolds Park man has been appointed to the Iowa Natural Resources Commission.

Greg Drees tells KUOO news he was notified of the appointment Wednesday by Governor Chet Culver’s office.

Drees says he’s very excited about the appointment and looks forward to serving on the seven-member commission, which oversees policy, adopts administrative rules and hears appeals in cases dealing with fish, wildlife, conservation law enforcement and parks and forestry programs. The commission also approves or disapproves the acquisition or disposal of state lands and waters related to state parks, recreational facilities and wildlife programs.

Drees is well known in the lakes area for his involvement in various environmental groups. He currently serves as Chairman of the Dickinson County Water Quality Commission; President of Friends of Lakeside Lab; is a board member on the Dickinson County Conservation Board and is a board member and past President of the Okoboji Protective Association.

Drees’ appointment to a six-year term on the Natural Resources Commission beginning in May is pending confirmation by the Senate.
