(Spirit Lake)– Fairly quiet. That’s how lakes area law enforcement agencies sum up the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
Dickinson County Sheriff Greg Baloun says things were fairly busy for deputies and officers, but not as much as in previous years.
Baloun says 64 people were booked into jail over the three-day period. Baloun says that’s down considerably from last year, but he says that isn’t a fair comparison because the fourth last year fell in the middle of the week, spreading the activity over a nine-day period. Compared with other fourths though, Baloun says the numbers were down.
Baloun says most arrests were routine–ranging from drunk driving to interference with official acts and disorderly conduct.
Baloun says no major accidents were reported over the weekend in Dickinson county…either on land or on the water.
