(Spirit Lake)– A judge has denied requests to reduce bond for three men charged with murder in a fight last mont outside a gentleman’s Club in Milford that fatally injured a Sioux Falls man.
Bond for Scott Adair, Michael Friedrichs and John Swan will remain at 750-thousand dollars each.
In denying the reduction requests, Judge Patrick Car says the minutes of evidence suggest the victim and co-defendants weren’t acquainted prior to the encounter that led to the charge. Given the potential penalty, the judge added there is a flight risk for the three, adding they have very few or no ties at all to the community.
Judge Car also cited an extensive criminal history of Friedrichs.
Attorneys for the three defendants argued at a bond reduction hearing May 19th that the bond was excessive and was posing hardships.
A September 23rd trial date has been set for the three men who remain in the Dickinson county jail.
