Jackson Kiwanis to present A Grand Old Opry Style Country Christmas Concert December 4

November 29, 2021 Becky Thoreson

A well-known Lakes Area Entertainer will appear in Jackson this weekend, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:

Jackson Kiwanis will present A Grand Old Opry Style Country Music Show on Saturday at the Jackson Performing Arts Center.

Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame Inductee and well-known Lakes Area performer, Terry Klein is one of the featured performers. “Steve Samuelson is the one that got me in touch with doing the Opry. I know he’s been the Musical Director for it for a number of years, and he asked me if I wanted to be a part of it, and I said sure, and I said, is this like an all Christmas music thing, and he said no, there’s going to be some Christmas music but it’s more country oriented and that kind of thing. So, I’m going to be doing a White Sport Coat and a Pink Carnation, and I’m going to be doing a song by Elvis Presley, a Christmas song called Blue Christmas.”

He adds that a number of other performers are involved. “All kinds of different songs. They’re doing George Strait, they’re doing Kathy Mattea, a lot of different things. Plus, the band is a six piece band and they’re just second to none. They do country as good as anybody. It’s just gonna be an honor for me to be a part of it. There’s a show on Saturday at 2 and one at 7:30, I believe. I’d just like to invite everybody from Spirit Lake and the Iowa Great Lakes area to come up and see it. It’ll be a great time and time well spent in the Christmas spirit.”
