The Iowa Great Lakes Chamber has announced a new fundraising event KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce has announced a new fundraising event called Boji’s Booming Bracket Battle.
Director of Membership and Events Kylie Zankowski explains. “Every year we put on the 4th of July Fireworks Show, and we thought we would put the fun in fundraising this year with this brand new event. It’s a march madness-themed fundraiser event. So, we are asking people to nominate starting Monday, February 28 and running all the way until Friday, March 4 at noon. There’s no requirements for nominating someone, we just ask that when you submit them, you submit a photo of them and a little bit of information about them. Once the nominations are closed, we will open up the elimination round, that second week of March from the 7th through the 11th, where we are asking you guys to vote on facebook. So, your likes on their photos will determine who is the top 16, or what we like to call our Sparkling Sixteen. Every week from there we’ll have head-to-head bracket battles where your donations will determine who’s moved on to the next round. The grand prize at the end determines who gets a pie to the face.”
She notes that there are several ways to nominate individuals. “You can either email us or call us at The Chamber with your nomination. Otherwise, we do have a nomination form that will be posted and live on Monday on our social media pages. We’ll also be sending out an email with that link and it is on our website.”
