(Estherville)– An investigation earlier this week into a burglary at a garage in Estherville resulted in an arrest. Estherville police say they were called shortly after 9:30 am Monday and met with the owner, who reported several items had been taken over the last two to three weeks. Access was made by prying a door and a window. The owner reported seeing some of the missing items in a neighboring garage.
At about 1:00 pm that afternoon police were called back to that location after the owner reported seeing a man loading a torch into the back of his vehicle, which was allegedly among the items stolen from the reporting party’s garage. Officers met with the suspect, identified as Charles Doucet of Estherville. They conducted a search at 208 1st Avenue South and spoke with Doucet. Police identified and seized the stolen items, many of which were positively identified by the victim as being taken in the burglary. Officers also found what’s believed to be methamphetamine.
Doucet was charged with theft in the 2nd degree, burglary in the 3rd degree, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
