Investigation Into Erratic Driving Complaint Lands Man In Jail On Drug Charges

March 14, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Jackson, Mn.)– An investigation into an erratic driving complaint last week in Jackson county resulted in the arrest of a man on drug charges.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were notified around 10:44 pm Wednesday of a vehicle being driven northbound on Highway 71 near 715th Street. The complainant reported the vehicle was weaving and nearly hit a southbound semi head-on. Deputies arrived and noticed a line of seven vehicles traveling at about 28 mph, with the lead vehicle crossing into the opposite lane in a no passing zone. The vehicle was pulled over. THe driver, Antonio Mendez Trice, didn’t supply a driver’s license and insurance, telling deputies the vehicle had a faulty steering wheel. Another deputy noticed a blue pipe and a jar with the numbers “420” on it. Upon further investigation deputies learned Trice is a predatory offender who is required to register and that his driver’s license was revoked.

Trice was arrested and was booked into jail on charges of failure to register, controlled substance…3rd degree, driving after revocation, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle.
