(Estherville)– Trustees of Iowa Lakes Community College Tuesday were updated on the school’s Environmental Studies program.
The course has been taught by Gary Phillips for some 26 years. During that time, college officials say it’s prepared more than a thousand students for careers in the environmental and resources management fields. They say more than half those students have remained in Iowa and are now working for various federal, state, county and municipal agencies.
Trustees were also updated on ILCC’s Sustainable Energy Resources Management program, which will enter its third year next week. College officials say that program is beginning to grow as prospective students become aware of the job opportunities which are developing in the renewable energy field.
Trustees also toured several building projects currently underway on the Estherville campus, including the new wrestling room that’s scheduled to open October 1st; and the Athletics Training Room slated for completion by the time classes start next week.
