(Estherville)– The board of trustees of Iowa Lakes Community College Tuesday approved a proposal to build more classrooms for wind energy students at the Estherville campus.
Delaine Hiney, Executive Director of Facilities Management at ILCC, says enrollment in the program has more than tripled since it was started, leading to the need for more room.
Hiney says an architectural firm is drawing up plans for the expansion. She says plans call for specs to be done by this coming December, with a bidletting in late December or early January with construction starting this coming spring.
The 7,000 square feet project would consist of an additional classroom and lab addition at an estimated cost of 1.25 million dollars.
