(Milford)– Area high school FFA chapters have been presented trees donated by the Landscape and Turfgrass program at Iowa Lakes Community College.
Program instructor Kevin Fehr delivered the trees Thursday to FFA instructors at Spencer, Okoboji and Estherville-Lincoln Central High Schools in conjunction with the 135th observance of Arbor Day. Arbor Day was established by President Theodore Roosevelt to celebrate the importance of trees to our nation.
Fehr addressed FFA classes on a new pest that’s destroying ash trees in many states and on the damage root bounding can cause to potted trees.
Trees will also be delivered to FFA instructors at Emmetsburg and Algona High Schools at a later date.
