(Estherville)– A local community college will share in a portion of 5.2 million dollars in funding for environmental initiatives in an Energy and Water Appropriations Bill approved this week by the full House Appropriations Committee.
Iowa Lakes Community College will receive 500-thousand dollars for the expansion of its sustainable education center.
The project will include a lab to repair wind turbine blades and will also house the college’s green building technologies program.
Congressman Tom Latham, who is a member of the House Appropriations Committee, made the announcement Friday.
