Ice Chunks, High Level In Little Sioux Attributed To Spencer Power Outage

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A power outage Tuesday in Spencer is being attributed to large chunks of ice and a fast current in the Little Sioux River.

Officials with Spencer Municipal Utilities say the rapid current and high river levels caused large chunks of ice to hit a pole near 32nd Avenue West and West Fourth Street…knocking down a transmission line.

The outage affected the entire city and lasted about 24 minutes.
