(Spirit Lake)– Hundreds of people lined Hill Avenue in front of Iowa Lakes Community College for the annual Memorial Day program in Spirit Lake.
Brigadier General Neal Christensen of Okoboji was the keynote speaker. He called on everyone to remember the young men and women who have and are serving our country…especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice by giving their lives for our freedom. For their families, he says, there are no sufficient words for comfort or no good answers to the question where’s daddy, or where’s mommy?.
General Christensen also called on everyone to remember those still missing in action.
For the first time in recent history, Spirit Lake’s Memorial Day program was held in a different location other than the east lawn of the Dickinson county courthouse, due to the continuing construction.
