(Spirit Lake)– Homeowners with sump pumps are reminded to make sure hoses are properly extended and are draining into the curb. It is illegal to discharge sump pumps into sanitary sewers.
Not only is it illegal, but officials say the additional water could overload treatment plants, causing a potential back-up of wastewater not only into somebody else’s home, but possibly yours as well.
It’s also a good idea to test your sump pump now before the heavy spring rains hit.
