(Hartley)– The Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn School Board has voted to sell the former elementary school building in Hartley. Board members Wednesday evening approved selling the building to the Hestia Group for $100. The vote was four-to-one. Board member Ryan Haak cast the lone no vote, saying the offer was just recently made and that he felt rushed into making a decision.
Some city officials again expressed concern over what could happen if the plans for the facility would fail. Plans call for a portion of the building to be renovated to include a daycare and youth center, with apartments on the second floor.
The H-M-S School Board had earlier planned to tear down the building.
