The Okoboji Blue Water Festival has revealed the headliner for this year’s festival. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Okoboji Blue Water Festival has announced that Melissa Etheridge will headline the annual event in August.
Festival Co-Chair Julie Peterson notes that the singer will perform on the new stage at Preservation Plaza. “We’ll have a brand new stage this year, and we’re really, really excited to announce that Melissa Etheridge will be our headliner. She’s one of rock’s most enduring singer-songwriters. She began her career in 1988 with Melissa Etheridge, her album. She’s a prolific songwriter, she’s a two time Grammy Award Winner, she has recently released a new album, One Way Out, and she’ll give us a great show with a live band.”
Festival Founder Greg Drees also announced this year’s Keynote Speaker. “Chad Pregracke. He’s a guy that grew up on the Mississippi River, and he was appalled at the pollution and especially, all of the garbage, in the river. So, he undertook a personal campaign to clean up a large stretch of the Mississippi River. Now, think about that. That’s a daunting task. Today he has a large fleet of boats, and they go out and continue to clean up the Mississippi River, it’s an amazing thing, and as a public speaker, he’s in high demand.”
The festival will include exhibitors, family activities and a fishing seminar August 13.
