Graettinger-Terril School Officials Addressing Some Financial Discrepancies

June 04, 2026

(Graettinger)– Officials with a local school district say they’re looking into some financial discrepancies and are taking steps to prevent something similar from happening again.

A Facebook post by the Graettinger-Terril Board of Education says an internal review turned up the discrepancies related to shared-service financial records with the Ruthven-Ayrshire Community School District, adding “the historical reporting and reconciliation processes did not fully reflect the appropriate flow of funds consistent with the formal sharing agreements.”

The statement goes on to say that a third-party is reviewing the agreements dating back to Fiscal Year 2022 and that improved internal controls are being implemented along with more robust financial reporting to the board.

The post goes on to say “The Graettinger-Terril District is operating under fiscal constraints as we continue dealing with rising expenses and declining revenues caused in part by declining enrollment, making it especially important that public dollars are appropriately accounted for and used responsibly.”
