Pocahontas Man Sentenced On Federal Drug Charges

October 29, 2026

(Pocahontas)– A Pocahontas man will spend nearly 22 years in jail after being sentenced on federal drug charges.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa says 47-year-old Jordan Mefferd was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty in June of this year to multiple counts of distributing methamphetamine and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon.

Evidence at court hearings showed that from about July 2024 through September 2025, Mefferd conspired to distribute at least three pounds of meth. It also showed that in August and September, 2025, an informant made four controlled buys of methamphetamine from Mefferd, totaling more than 200 grams. On September 23rd, 2025, a search warrant was executed on Mefferd and his residence resulting in the seizure of a small amount of meth, a little more than $9,600 in currency, along with four firearms and ammunition.
