Governor Kim Reynolds Sets Date For Special Election For Senate District One Seat

(Des Moines)– Governor Kim Reynolds today (Wed.) set December 14th as the date for a special election to fill the vacancy in Senate District 1 created by the resignation of Zach Whiting of Spirit Lake. The winner of that election will go on to fill out the remainder of Whiting’s term. That person could then opt to run for a full term later.

So far, Republicans Barbara Clayton and Dave Rowley both of Spirit Lake have announced their candidacies.

Senate District 1 is comprised of Clay, Dickinson, Lyon, Osceola and Palo Alto counties.
