(Spirit Lake)– A natural gas leak Friday afternoon in Spirit Lake resulted in an evacuation and several streets being closed to traffic.
Aquila spokesman Jim Anderson tells KUOO news a contractor doing some work in the area of 28th Street between Sunner and Zenith Avenues hit the line shortly after 3:00 p.m.
Anderson says gas blew out of it for about an hour and-a-half before crews could get it capped.
Residents were allowed back into their homes and streets in the area were reopened shortly after 5:00 p.m.
