(Milford)– The Milford city council Monday held the first reading of proposed ordinances that would increase garbage and sewer rates.
Under the proposal, the monthly base rate for garbage would increase from $7.50 to $8.00 a month. The price of the city’s blue bags would go up a dime a bag–from 50 cents currently to 60 cents a bag. For commercial accounts, the base rate would go from 10-dollars a month to $12.50 with the yardage fee going from $5.00 to $6.00 a yard.
The base rate for sewer service would go to $1.50 a month with the per-unit fee also going to $1.50 regardless of the number of units. The charge per thousand gallons would increase from 90 cents to $1.00 per thousand.
The council will hold a second reading on the proposed increases at its next meeting.
