(Milford)– Lakes area environmentalists say the need to increase capacity at the Spirit Lake and Central Water Treatment plants should serve as a wake up call when it comes to future demand for water in the region.
They say projections for increased population, new ethanol plants and other factors will combine for a huge increase in demand. Complicating matters, they say, is the ever present danger of lakes and the aquifers that feed them becoming polluted.
The issue will be the subject of a public meeting scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 23rd at the Milford Community Building.
