(Webb)– The State Fire Marshal says a space heater that ignited some nearby items is the probable cause of a fire Wednesday that heavily damaged a house in Webb.
Firefighters from Webb and Marathon were called to 105 West Main Street and found flames coming from a first floor bedroom window. Firefighters say the blaze quickly spread to the attic.
They battled sub-zero temperatures several hours trying to bring it under control.
No injuries were reported.
The occupant of the house, Jason Hart, wasn’t home at the time. The blaze was discovered by a passerby who called 911.
Officials say it appears the fire started in a bedroom on the northwest corner of the house where a space heater was being used.
