(Arnolds Park)– A project to replace the “Trigg’s Bridge” on the east side of Arnolds Park is going to receive federal funding.
City Administrator Ron Walker says the money will cover 80 percent of the project…estimated to cost slightly more than a million dollars. The remaining 20 percent will be split 50-50 by the city and Dickinson county.
Walker says the new bridge will have a greater boat clearance height, but it still won’t be as high as the Highway 71 or trestle bridges.
An engineering feasibility study is currently being conducted to determine a design of the structure. Walker says preliminary plans call for a fishing platform and trail to be located along atleast one side of the structure.
He says the project probably won’t be carried out until the 2004 fiscal year.
The heavily traveled bridge connects Arnolds Park with 190th Street, or the “landfill road”.
