Federal Funding Awarded For Water Projects

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– The U.S. Department of Agriculture has released 81 million dollars in grants and more than 274 million in loans under a provision of the recently enacted farm bill to boost rural water and waste water projects.

Specifically, Iowa will receive 22 million dollars in loans and grants for the projects.

Of that, Iowa Lakes Regional Water will receive 4.2 million in loans and a grant of 3.4 million to fund the Osgood Water Treatment Plant and related facilities to help improve water service throughout the Iowa Great Lakes and to expand service to parts of Emmet and Palo Alto counties.

Funds have been awarded through the same program to hel finance Iowa Lakes Regional Water’s expansion in Jackson and Martin counties in southwest Minnesota. Agriculture Under Secretary for Rural Development Thomas Dorr will make that announcement Monday (Aug. 18th) at 11:00 a.m. at Minnesota West Community and Technical College in Jackson.
