(Spirit Lake)– Next week marks the observance of Extension Week. Hanna Dibble, K-12 Educator with ISU Extension and Outreach Dickinson County tells KUOO news they’ll be having special events and themes each day, starting Monday, April 18th…
“From 11:00 am until 1:00 pm our partners at the Nature Center are bringing some of their animal ambassadors so come on out, grab a bite to eat and learn about animals with the kids. And earlier on the 18th, we have the Spirit Lake Public Library doing a story time at the Extension Office, and that evening we’ll have food trucks there until 6:00 pm. So that evening we have Iowa Lakeside Laboratories coming out with some really fun activities for the family from 4:30 to 6:00 where you can make seed bombs, learn about the food web and the prairie and meet and greet one of the cutest rabbits.”
Dibble says the theme Tuesday, April 19th will be centered around agriculture and will be in cooperation with Farm Bureau…
“There’s a special food truck deal in the works for folks in the ag industry and we’ve got one of our agricultural specialists on hand to answer questions about anything they have and do some networking. We’ll also have kind of a guessing game for our farmers out there with different specimens of crop diseases and pests.”
Events for Wednesday, April 20th, will be centered around Master Gardner and conservationist programs…
“That’s a chance for the community to learn about those excellent programs that we’ve got coming up. We still have space available to register for Master Conservationist which is starting this May.”
The topic for Thursday, April 21st will be Human Sciences. Dibble says the public is cordially invited to all of the events that will be taking place.
