(Estherville)– Estherville residents will head to the polls later this summer to decide the fate of a Local Option Sales and Service Tax.
At the request of the Excel Estherville group, the city council Monday unanimously adopted a resolution calling for an election on the one-cent tax.
George Shadle, a member of Excel Estherville, told the council proceeds could be used for various community improvements, adding many communities in the state already have such a tax in place, including Armstrong and Rigsted in Emmet county.
The earliest a vote could be held is August 26th. The Emmet County Commissioner of Elections will set the date.
