(Spirit Lake)– A 93-year-old woman from Everly is 2,800-dollars richer after winning a tour of homes poker run during last weekend’s University of Okoboji Winter Games.
Helen Winkel says she was totally surprised when she first learned she had won, saying she thought someone was playing a joke on her at first.
Winkel attended the University of Okoboji Winter Games with her neice. She says this is the second time they’ve been at the winter games, adding they had a very enjoyable time last Saturday.
Winkel was presented with her check Friday at Central Bank in Spirit Lake. She says she doesn’t have any immediate plans for the money, but she was quick to point out she won’t have any problems finding ways to use it.
