Estherville Chamber of Commerce to hold Fright Hike at Ft Defiance State Park October 30

October 21, 2021 Becky Thoreson

The Fright Hike returns in Estherville next week, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:

The Estherville Chamber of Commerce will hold their Fright Hike at Ft. Defiance State Park on October 30.

Executive Director Lexie Ruter says the event starts with a “lights on” hour for younger children. “Fright Hike is a 1/2 mile haunted hike through Ft. Defiance State Park on the White Tail Ridge Trail. It’s a really fun, haunted night. It’s like a haunted house but in the woods. So, mix all that fear your already have about being alone in the woods near Halloween at night, and then add in that you have no idea who is going to jump out at you. So, it’s really a blast. We offer a lights on hour from 6 to 7 pm, that is kind of while the sun is setting for younger kids. We go a little less scary during that hour, and then from 7 to 9:30 we have full scare. We are one night only, so you want to come out and enjoy the experience of Fright Hike in Ft. Defiance State Park.”

She adds that the hike takes about 20 minutes. “It’s only $5 per person and it does take over 20 minutes to go through our haunted house. So, it’s a lot of fun for only 5 bucks. It’s Saturday, October 30th, with a rain date on Sunday the 31st, which hopefully we won’t have to use.”
