November 22, 2014

(Wahpeton)– 32 students from the regents universities, Buena Vista University and Iowa Lakes Community College will converge on the Iowa Great Lakes August 3rd through the 8th for the third annual Okoboji Entrepreneurial Institute.

Kathy Evert of the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation, which helps put on the institute each year, says it will be headquartered this year at Lakeside Laboratory.

Evert says the students will participate in an advanced study of entrepreneurship that will include a simulation, seminars with successful entrepreneurs and business and community leaders, and networking and mentoring.

Evert thanks those who are sponsoring this year’s institute, along with host families in the lakes area who are providing lodging to the students that week.

In addition, Evert says this year’s institute will include some younger students as well. For the first time, she says they’ll be offering the Iowa Lakes Corridor Middle School Entrepreneurial Academy. About a dozen young peopl from Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson and Emmet counties will participate in that event August 4th-8th at the Spencer Middle School. The program will be taught by Karla Kyle, business teacher at Harris-Lake Park High School.
