Emmet County Voters Approve 1 Cent Local Option Sales Tax

November 22, 2014

(Estherville)– A one cent local option sales tax was passed countywide Tuesday in a referendum in Emmet county.

The measure passed in all the municipalities as well as the unincorporated areas of Emmet county.

Revenue generated by the tax will be used for economic development incentives in the county.

Getting the measure passed was a priority of the Excel! Estherville organization…a group that’s working to improve the quality of life in Estherville and Emmet county.

Turnout in Tuesday’s election was very light. Only 842 ballots were cast county-wide.
