(Estherville)– A single vehicle crash Saturday morning in rural Emmet county claimed the life of an Alabama man.
The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office says it received a call little after 8:00 am from a motorist reporting a vehicle had left the roadway and struck a tree in the 4100 block of Highway 9.
Upon arriving authorities found the driver, 70-year-old Davies Sanders of Theodore, Alabama, entrapped in the vehicle. The Estherville Fire Department freed Sanders by mechanical means. Sanders was then taken to Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville where he later died of his injuries.
The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office says the crash remains under investigation.
