(Estherville)– An Emmet county jury has found an Estherville man not guilty on all counts filed against him in a machete attack and robbery of another Estherville man earlier this year.
Adam Harding was found not guilty of attempted murder, first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary in the January 26th attack and robbery of Gary Smith of Estherville.
Harding was also cleared of any lesser charges under the three counts.
The jury returned its verdict shortly after 3:00 p.m. Wednesday following a trial that lasted several days.
Another man who was charged in the incident, Brent Lamp, pleaded guilty to theft. He testified against Harding during the trial, claiming Harding attacked Smith with the machete. Harding testified it was Lamp who attacked Smith. In reaching its verdict, the jury agreed with Harding’s testimony.
The jury reached its verdict after about six hours of deliberations.
