(Wallingford)– One thing’s for certain with all the snow that’s on the ground again: we don’t have to worry about any grassfires for awhile.
That wasn’t the case, earlier in the week…prior to the white stuff returning. A grass fire Monday in Emmet county burned 25 to 30 acres of land northeast of Wallingford near County Road A-33.
Wallingford Fire Chief Jarrod Fischer tells KUOO news his department was called to that location around 6:00 p.m. Monday. He says a farmer had been doing some burning and the fire got away…spreading to a grassy area.
The Gruver Fire Department was called for assistance.
Fischer says firefighters were on the scene about an hour and-a-half.
No injuries were reported.
