Emergency Management: Worst Of Flooding On Little Sioux In Dickinson Co. May Be About Over

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The worst of the flooding on the Little Sioux River may be about over.

Dickinson County Emergency Management Coordinator Mike Ehret tells KUOO news the river was at 16.78 feet this (Thursday) morning at the gauging station west of Milford…up slightly more than a foot since 4:00 p.m. Wednesday. Flood stage there is 12 feet.

However, Ehret says it appears the river has crested further upstream. He says it was starting to recede slightly this (Thursday) morning in the area of 170th Avenue west of Spirit Lake.

More rain is falling this (Thursday) morning, but it’s been light and isn’t expected to have much of an impact on the flooding.
